Whiteville, North Carolina
Southeastern Community College offers a 48-credit cosmetology diploma (D55140) in Whiteville. Training combines theory and practical work in a simulated salon, covering hair design, chemical services, skin and nail care, multicultural practices, and salon business skills.
The college also offers a separate associate degree (A55140) and a Career and College Promise diploma pathway (D55140H) for eligible high-school students. This profile describes the diploma; its academic credits are not a count of clock hours.
You earn a Diploma by completing the required curriculum and the college’s graduation requirements. These include a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, at least 25% of your program credits completed at SCC, an application for graduation, and payment of outstanding fees or fines.
The diploma and a cosmetology license are separate. Graduates prepare to take the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination; passing that examination is a further step toward licensing, not an award issued automatically at graduation.
Cosmetology has an annual fall cohort. Begin the application process early enough to complete any required pre-admission courses before the cohort starts.

Cosmetology supplies are separate. The college estimates:
These supplies estimates are dated August 7, 2025. A complete program total is not available. Eligible high-school CCP students have tuition waived, but most must still buy their textbooks and supplies; that waiver does not make the regular diploma free.
