Research method
Every displayed fact should be traceable.
Our method separates what a regulator confirms, what a school lists, what can be calculated from available cost components, and what could not be independently confirmed.
01 / Inclusion
Which schools enter the directory
A profile must correspond to an active Texas cosmetology-school license and include a full cosmetology program. Adjacent programs such as esthetics, barbering, and nail technology do not qualify a campus by themselves.
02 / Sources
What we check first
- Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records for school identity and license status.
- Official school pages, catalogs, disclosures, and admissions materials.
- Accreditor and federal records when identity and program scope can be matched.
Profiles link the reviewed sources and show when they were retrieved. School-reported accreditation remains labeled as such until it is reconciled with an accreditor's own record.
03 / Prices
We do not present market estimates as a school's price.
A price appears only when it is a current school-specific total, an official government-reported program charge, or a transparent minimum calculated from costs listed by the school. We label a calculated floor “At least” and show what's included on the profile.
When those conditions are not met after reviewing the available school and government sources, the profile says “Price unavailable.”
04 / Updates
Dates matter
Each profile shows when important information was last checked. Schedules and start dates can change without notice and do not guarantee that a seat remains available. Older or conflicting information is either labeled clearly or withheld until it can be reconciled.
