About the program

Rockingham Community College’s Cosmetology Diploma (D55140) combines cosmetology concepts, salon courses, college-success coursework, and communication and humanities electives. The 48-academic-credit plan runs through fall, spring, summer and the following fall.

Students gain supervised client experience in Eagle Salon, in the Science Building at 312 Wrenn Memorial Road. Diploma graduates can continue coursework toward the separate associate degree.

What you get

You earn the Cosmetology Diploma after completing the program requirements, taking at least 25% of its semester credits at RCC, and achieving both an overall GPA and a program GPA of 2.0 or higher. Submit a graduation application by the applicable deadline to have the award recorded at completion.

The college states that diploma graduates qualify to take the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. The diploma is the school award; passing the board examination is a separate step toward the professional license.

Schedules & start dates

Class times depend on your term and course combination. In the fall introductory sequence, theory and salon classes meet Monday–Thursday during the day; Thursday also includes the college-success class.

The schedule below describes those fall classes, not a new-student start date. Later salon and theory courses have their own meeting times.

Cost & financial aid

Program price

Price unavailable

Tuition is based on residency and academic credits, with fees assessed each term. Textbooks, supplies and some course-specific fees are additional.

The diploma spans four terms, so one semester’s tuition-and-fee amount is not the full program cost.

Federal financial aid

Eligibility not confirmed

Use FAFSA school code 002958 when applying for aid. RCC processes aid after admission, and funding depends on program eligibility and continued academic progress.

Foundation scholarships use one application for multiple awards. The installment payment plan spreads registration tuition and fees over time, but does not include bookstore purchases or personal expenses.

RCC Installment Payment Plan

Eligibility: Registered students without outstanding financial obligations to the college.

Covers registration tuition and fees, not bookstore or personal costs. Fall/spring normally require a 25% down payment, a $20 application fee and three later payments. Summer uses a 50% down payment, the fee and one later payment.

RCC Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility: New and returning university-transfer and workforce/CTE students; full-time and part-time applicants may be considered under individual award criteria.

One application considers multiple scholarships that can support tuition, fees, books and tools. The annual application window is January 1–September 1; an award is not guaranteed.

How to enroll
