About the program
Career Center High School offers a two-year cosmetology pathway for high-school juniors and seniors. Students study hair, nail, and skin care and gain practical experience in a classroom studio, including opportunities to work with clients.
- Year 1: Cosmetology I Honors and CTE Advanced Studies HUMA Honors.
- Year 2: Cosmetology II Honors and CTE Advanced Studies HUMA Honors.
The sequence carries six high-school credits. It prepares students for the Apprentice license examination, rather than awarding a professional license automatically.
What you get
The pathway provides training toward the Apprentice license examination. You must complete 1,200 training hours before you are eligible to sit for that examination.
- Course credit: The two-year sequence carries six high-school credits.
- Professional licensing: Completing coursework is not the same as receiving a license; the Apprentice license examination remains a separate step.
Schedules & start dates
Plan for daytime classes plus additional hours outside the regular class schedule, after school or on Saturdays. Those additional hours help you complete the training required for the Apprentice license examination; the regular school timetable alone is not the whole commitment.
| Study option | Class schedule | Hours per week | Upcoming starts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daytime With Additional Hours 2 years | Additional hours outside scheduled classes are required after school or on Saturdays; this is not a separate optional weekend program. | Not listed | Not listed |
