About the program

Cosmetology students train in a full-service salon and spa, developing hair, nail, and skincare skills. The sequence begins in the summer before junior year and continues through senior year, including a second summer session and extended-day attendance. All sessions are required to complete the 1,500 hours needed for the Michigan cosmetology exam.

What you get

Complete all required sessions to meet the 1,500-hour Michigan cosmetology requirement and become eligible to apply for the state licensing exam. Passing both the practical and theory exams is required to earn a Michigan cosmetology license.

Schedules & start dates

These are required parts of one program, not separate full-time and part-time routes. Junior-year students attend a morning or afternoon session; senior-year students attend the afternoon session plus an extended day. Two summer sessions are also required.
