About the program

This two-year cosmetology program combines theory, hands-on training, and salon experience. Students begin as high-school seniors and return after graduation to complete 1,500 hours of instruction for Michigan cosmetology licensure.

What you get

To graduate from the cosmetology program, students complete required activities and assessments and pass the written and practical portions of the 1,500-hour assessment. The instructor then submits the required paperwork for students to apply for the State Board exam.

Schedules & start dates

Students begin with a high-school session and return after graduation to finish the required hours. The post-graduation completion year has a longer daily schedule; it is not a separate open-entry adult program.
