About the program

Tri-County offers cosmetology within its high-school career and technical education program in Franklin. Students can gain practical experience through The Salon at Tri-County, part of the school’s student-run vocational services supervised by professionally licensed teachers.

Students take part in technical exploration to help them choose a program. This high-school pathway is separate from Tri-County’s adult cosmetology course.

What you get

  • High-school diploma: complete the school’s academic and vocational graduation requirements, including 232 school credits across four years, competency and physical-education requirements, attendance, and outstanding assignments or discipline obligations.
  • Other completion requirements: return school property, settle outstanding bills and fees, and pay applicable class dues.

These are high-school graduation requirements. The 232 credits are not cosmetology clock hours, and the school diploma is not a professional cosmetology license.

How to enroll

Entry requirements

  • School admission: applicants must meet the requirements for the grade they wish to enter.
  • Residency: the admissions policy names Franklin, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Plainville, Seekonk, Sherborn, Walpole and Wrentham as member communities. Member-community students receive priority over nonresidents, and residency documentation predating the application is required.
  • Program placement: students participate in technical exploration before placement in a career program.

Application steps

  1. Complete the school application, including the required information and electronic signature, by the application deadline. Paper applications are also available.
  2. Follow the school’s lottery process when applications exceed seats. Under the 2026–27 policy, a demonstration of interest can provide one additional entry: a non-evaluative interview is preferred, with a student-created recording or essay as alternatives.
  3. Wait for the school’s admission or waitlist notice. A lottery number alone does not confirm an offer.
  4. If offered a place, complete acceptance and registration, provide residency documentation and follow placement-testing instructions. Technical exploration helps determine program placement.
