About the program

Franklin County Technical School offers a 1,000-hour high-school cosmetology program covering hair, skin and nail care. Students practice infection control, cutting, coloring, styling, chemical services, facial treatments, manicuring and artificial nail application. Training also develops communication and business-management skills.

In the student salon, students work with clients under licensed instructors’ supervision. Eligible upper-class students may take part in cooperative education, working in local cosmetology businesses during their shop weeks.

What you get

The program prepares students for professional cosmetology licensure. The school lists the Massachusetts cosmetology license and an OSHA 10-hour card among its industry credentials; the course itself is not an automatic professional license.

Eligible upper-class students can gain workplace experience through cooperative education. Guidance also helps seniors explore scholarships for work or further education after graduation; these are separate from funding the high-school course.
