About the program

Attleboro’s three-level high-school cosmetology pathway covers hair, skin and nail care alongside academic study. Introductory work includes hair care, facials, manicures, sanitation and related science.

Later levels build skills in haircutting, pedicures, nail enhancements, chemical services and customer service. Juniors and seniors gain client experience in a salon setting after accumulating 500 training hours. This is a threshold for client work, not the total course length.

What you get

Complete your high-school education while developing practical cosmetology skills.

  • Meet the school’s academic, credit and competency requirements for a high-school diploma.
  • Students who finish a three-year CTE program, earn a safety credential and present a portfolio are eligible for the CTE Certificate of Occupation Proficiency.
  • Cosmetology training prepares students for the state board exam. A school diploma or certificate is not itself a professional cosmetology license.

Schedules & start dates

The sequence is organized as Cosmetology I, II and III within the high-school timetable. Regular school hours are 7:15 AM–1:50 PM, but that day includes academic courses as well as technical learning; it is not a count of daily cosmetology hours.

How to enroll

Entry requirements

This is a pathway for Attleboro High School students, not a standalone adult cosmetology course.

  • Cosmetology I: listed for grade 10 and above.
  • Cosmetology II: grade 11.
  • Cosmetology III: grade 12.

Freshman Technical Exploratory can introduce students to the field, but it is not a prerequisite for entry. Requesting cosmetology does not guarantee a place.

Application steps

For students planning their AHS courses:

  1. Discuss cosmetology with your guidance counselor and review how it fits your academic requirements.
  2. Make course requests during trimester 2, following the school’s scheduling process. Include alternatives because requests do not guarantee placement.
  3. Review the finalized requests in Aspen with your family. Guidance counselors check requests before the school builds the timetable and schedules students into available courses.
