What you get

  • Complete the required coursework and record 1,500 hours of Cosmetology instruction to earn a certificate of concentration in Cosmetology.
  • After successful completion and your instructor’s recommendation, take the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists’ examination. The school certificate and professional license are separate; the certificate does not automatically grant a license.

Schedules & start dates

The program includes supervised experience in an off-site salon. The Clinical Experience course describes 270–300 hours, with students recommended for placement after demonstrating their skills during school-based clinical practice. Work-based learning is part of the 1,500-hour program, not an additional 300-hour program.

Application steps

  1. Review the Cosmetology program and decide whether its practical training matches your interests.
  2. Plan for tenth-grade entry with support from your comprehensive high school’s counselors and Worcester Tech’s counselors.
