About the program

Bladensburg High School offers a three-year, 1,500-hour cosmetology pathway beginning in grade 10. Students learn hair cutting and styling, makeup, nail and skin care, chemical services and salon management. This is a high school CTE pathway, not an open-enrollment adult beauty school.

What you get

Students work toward 1,500 clock hours of cosmetology training and take the Maryland State Board Cosmetologist examination. The pathway prepares students for professional licensing; completing the coursework alone does not grant a license.
