About the program

Z Hair Academy’s Overland Park campus offers a 1,500-hour cosmetology program combining classroom theory with hands-on salon training. Training is organized into three stages:

  • New Talent — 320 hours: foundational hair, skin and nail skills, professional communication and salon safety.
  • Designer I — 680 hours: developing technical skills through classroom instruction and supervised salon work.
  • Designer II — 500 hours: advanced services, business and career preparation, and state-board exam preparation.

The school estimates 47 weeks for its full-time route or 64 weeks part-time. Weekly attendance changes between classroom and studio training; actual completion depends on attendance and progress.

What you get

You receive a Certificate of Completion after completing the 1,500 required clock hours, earning at least a 75% final satisfactory-progress average, and paying all school financial obligations. The school then forwards the required paperwork to the licensing agency.

The certificate prepares you for cosmetology licensing, but it is not itself a professional license. Licensing and testing fees are your responsibility and are not included in tuition. The school offers career assistance, but employment is not guaranteed.

Schedules & start dates

The school’s full-time route begins with 28 classroom hours per week, then increases to 36 studio hours. Its part-time route begins with 20 classroom hours, then increases to 27 studio hours. Saturdays are part of both studio timetables.

Daily times change in the studio: the full-time route runs later on Thursdays, while the part-time route has a longer Saturday. The table shows the school-wide timetable; hours may vary by location. The start-date list applies to new-student campus intakes, not a separate admission date for the later studio stage; availability by route is not separately specified.
