About the program

Capri College in Waterloo offers a 1,550-hour cosmetology program covering hair cutting, styling and coloring, skincare, makeup and nail care. Classroom learning is combined with supervised practice on clients in the student salon and spa. Business and client-service training are part of the curriculum.

What you get

You receive a Diploma in Cosmetology after completing the required coursework and 1,550 clock hours, passing the final exam, meeting the 75% academic and 80% attendance requirements, satisfying financial obligations and completing exit paperwork.

  • The diploma is your school qualification, not a professional license. Iowa licensing also requires the licensing exam and a license application with a fee.
  • Planning to work outside Iowa? Capri’s program is designed for Iowa requirements; another state may require additional steps or training.
